JC cross country is ninth, 11th at Brownwood Invitational

The Johnson City High School cross country program competed at the Brownwood Invitational Aug. 30 where the Lady Eagles finished ninth overall and the Eagles were 11th overall.

The girls ran two miles, while the boys ran a 5K.

Junior Jackie Earley was the silver medalist thanks to finishing in 12 minutes and 25.69 seconds and senior Claire White was 13th in 13:08.67. Junior Emily Moore was 70th in 14:41.49, while freshman Avery Haley came in 15:00.96, and freshman Chloe Clark was 94th in 15:15.31. Senior Emma Mayes finished 169th in 17:02.32.

In the boys race, junior Antonio Perez was 21st in 18:49.85, while junior Zac Haley finished 49th in 19:54.38, junior Micah Ablon was 71st in 20:25.42, sophomore Michael Axtell came in 96th in 21:41.32, sophomore Ricardo Massey was 118th in 22:37.49, and sophomore Josiah Alvarez was 124th in 24:03.69.

In the boys junior varsity division, junior Marcos Castellanos came in ninth in 22:16.65 and sophomore Brayden Hull was 56th in 33:00.78.

The runners will compete at the Region III Cross Country Preview Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park, 486 Texas 75 North in Huntsville.
